I’ve never seen an online space so committed to not only the cause, but to each other and their “home”.

I decided to join their online community and blog as a way to share my experiences not only as the person I described above, but as the former partner of a transman, and the current partner of a genderqueer/non op transguy. I want to let people know that it’s possible to maintain your own sexual/gender identity seperate from your partner. I still identify as gay, even though I’m dating somebody who doesn’t identify as female. I do however, get to transform along with him to become a more educated person in regard to gender identity issues. To be a part of the gender gifted community (the good with the bad) is such a beuatiful thing. I know not everybody feels the same, but this is my motivation for blogging.

Gender Gifted Chat has a Healthy Chat Policy of which includes, “no bullying, no abusive conduct; and, no stalking behavior.” This policy was designed to help keep Gender Gifted people safe.

Cyber bullying is dangerous and can result in suicidal after-effects.
Preventing bullying also helps prevent suicide.

GGC technical problem

This is your friendly tech-geek also known as XanderS.

For some of the chatters using Windows 7 or vista you may be experiencing problems with not being able to copy or paste things into the room. I have also been having this problem and decided to fix it finally. Once I fixed it for myself I decided to help out the fellow members of the chat by writing a step by step guide. I will make this guide as simple as I can.

1. You will need to completely uninstall Java.

This is done by going to the Start menu

Enter into the control panel

Go into the program list and choose Java.

Uninstall the program.

2. Open the following webpage. technetwork/java/archive-139210.html

3. Look for the drop box that says “JDK/JRE – 6”

4. In that drop box go to 6 update 22. Press Go.

5. On the next page that loads you will chose the option that says Download JRE

Once this is installed it will ask to update. Press yes and it will fully install. Close all open browsers and your problems should be solved.

Gender Gifted Chat Room Update

Gender Gifted Chat room opened January 3, 2011 and and has been active for 2 1/2 Months. There are 88 registered members, approximately one member per day since the room opened. The three-month mark is an awkward time for chat room. Members miss each other, sometimes by minutes. There are not quite enough members so that the room remains active most of the day; and who wants to hang around if the chat room is empty? After all, chat is all about talking with others.

Congratulations to Ashley, former assistant chat director at Laura’s Playground, is now an super administrator at at Gender Gifted Chat.

HELP WANTED: Gender Gifted Chat can always use delightful member who wish to chat and awesome folks who wish to be moderators.

A Spotlight on Support: GLSEN

There are a lot of organizations across the country and around the world that are working endlessly to provide safe places and support to LGBTQ folks of all ages, races, and walks of life. For the next few weeks I want to take a look at some of these amazing organizations. Please, if you have a group you would like me to look at leave a comment and I will consider them as well.

GLSEN

Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) was began in 1990 by a group of 70 volunteers gay and lesbian educators, trying to broaden awareness for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) youth. It has continued to grow and now has more the 4,000 gay straight alliances (GSAs) registered across the country.

GLSEN also sponsors The National Day of Silence, in which students and educators nation wide in take part each year to so their remembrance for all those who have been hurt by violence toward those of the GLBT community.

GLSEN recently competed for a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Organization to go toward one of their Safe Spaces Campaign. THEY WON! This money will be used to help place Safe Space Kits in every secondary school nation wide. These kits are an effort to help make educators aware of what they can do to lessen bulling in their schools and help GLBT youth feel supported and safe in their schools. Kits include stickers, posters, and a 42 page Guide to Being an Ally to LGBT Students.

Its so important that our YOUTH know from the beginning that their are people in their lives who care and understand. Thank you to GLSEN and other youth organizations world wide who are making it easier for GLBT youth to find and embrace themselves.
